SplintFab Scanner

Professional 3D scanning for orthotics and prosthetics — powered by the iPhone TrueDepth camera, processed entirely on device.

SplintFab Scanner is an iOS app built by Boom Consulting LLC for clinicians who fabricate custom orthotics and prosthetics. It turns an iPhone's front TrueDepth camera into a precise 3D measurement tool, capturing a full-colour 3D model of a patient's limb or body segment — from a foot or hand to a full spinal (TLSO) — in seconds, with no cloud, no account, and no data leaving the device.

Why clinicians use it

📶

Precise depth capture

Uses Apple's TrueDepth sensor and real-time 3D reconstruction to build an accurate, full-colour 3D model of the scanned body part.

🔒

Private by design

Every scan is processed and stored on the device. Nothing is uploaded, and the app contains no analytics or third-party tracking.

💾

Open export format

Scans export as a standard OBJ mesh, ready for the fabrication lab and common CAD tools.

Fast in-clinic workflow

Capture, review, and share a scan in under a minute — no scanning rig or dedicated hardware required.

How it works

Scan

Choose the scan type (foot, ankle-foot, knee-ankle-foot, upper-limb, or spinal), then hold the iPhone about 20–40 cm away until the distance guide reads Good. Move slowly around the body segment and the app builds a single 3D model in real time.

Review & save

A live overlay highlights unscanned areas in red — just “chase the red away” until the model is complete, then tap Save. Scans are kept in the app's private sandbox on your device until you delete them.

Share to the lab

Tap Share to send the scan from the iOS share sheet — AirDrop, Files, email, or your CAD workflow — as a vertex-coloured OBJ mesh, ready for the fabrication lab.

Patient data stays with you. SplintFab Scanner transmits nothing over the internet. A scan leaves your device only when you explicitly share it. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
